» EPP Foam Sheet Extrusion Line FAQ

The main difference between EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam and EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam lies in their base polymer, which results in distinct material properties.

EPP foam is highly durable and elastic with excellent multi-impact resistance, whereas EPS foam is more rigid and brittle, typically designed for single-impact protection. In addition, EPP foam can withstand a much wider temperature range compared to EPS foam.

EPP foam is widely used in automotive components, food packaging, insulation materials, and construction applications due to its high temperature tolerance, stiffness, lightweight characteristics, and excellent impact resistance.

Blowing agents used for EPP foam include LPG, a mixture of CO₂ and ethanol, and physical foaming using CO₂.

EPP foam offers several advantages over EPS foam in food container applications:

- Excellent thermal resistance

- Microwave safety

- High food safety, as polypropylene (PP) is a non-toxic polymer

- Reusability and recyclability
